My Story by Rosalie Silver

A private memoir, designed with love

   Rosalie Silver was more than a talented artist…she was a dear friend and fellow creative spirit. We met while sharing studio space in the Towles Court Artist Colony in Sarasota, Florida, where inspiration seemed to flourish in every corner.

   Rosalie entrusted me with the design of her memoir, a deeply personal tribute to her life and the influence of her beloved step-father. The journey began when her friend, Linda Maree, transcribed Rosalie’s spoken memories into written pages…sent in small batches that gradually revealed a lifetime of experiences.

   One afternoon, Rosalie arrived at my studio carrying two large cardboard boxes. Inside were remnants of a full life…photographs, mementos, and tokens from her step-father’s time in World War II. Among them: a canteen, dog tags, and small pamphlets issued to soldiers in foreign countries. Pressed between those pages were dried flowers used to mark important passages…fragments of time preserved with quiet grace.

   Those flowers became a personal favorite element in the book. I scanned them carefully and incorporated their faded textures throughout the design, layering memory into each page.

   My Story was created as a keepsake for Rosalie and her family. It was never intended for public sale…just a handcrafted homage to a life lived fully and artfully.
